DR. N. M. VEERAIYAN,
FOUNDER CHANCELLOR
Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan was born on 15-11-1947 at Nalligowandanoor, Erode District and had schooling at Kavandapadi. He is an alumni of Madras Medical College, one of the premier Institutions of this country. He graduated in Dentistry in 1970. A renowned dental surgeon,Dr. Veeraiyan established a 100 bedded multi-specialty hospital in 1977 and also a School of Nursing for Diploma course, the first of its kind in Erode.
Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan founded Saveetha Dental College & Hospital in 1988 and later expanded his vision by establishing Saveetha College of Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy. His goal to provide international-standard education led to the creation of Saveetha University in 2005, which became a hub for diverse academic disciplines. In 2007, he took a significant step by starting Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences SIMATS Engineering College, further diversifying his educational impact.
A Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Dr. Veeraiyan co-authored the Tamil book "Vaai Pal Maruthuvam," earning an award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from TamilNadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and the Edupreneur Award from Times of India. The staff and students of Saveetha University highly respect his vision, dedication, and commitment to education and humanitarian causes.
